...And Counting.
(Festival Assoc. Director Geeda Searfoorce [l] & Flynn Center Artistic Director Arnie Malina [r])
With today's press conference for the 27th annual Burlington Discover Jazz Festival, we now have less than two months to go before the fun starts.
Keep an eye out here for updates as we get closer, and leave a comment to share your favorite memories from past festivals or thoughts on this year's lineup!
Discover Jazz Festival-Line-Up 2010 Released
This year's Burlington Discover Jazz Festival press conference: an occasion to bring out treasured Festival shirts and smiles.
The line-up is out and Sonny Rollins, Jim Hall, et. al. stalk the land. The Festival is always a kick and this year covers the gamet from the Cuban-born master Arturo Sandoval, who was a founding member of IRAKIRE to Allen Toussaint, New Orleans piano master, composer, bandleader, vocalist and hitmaker with a heartbreakingly beautiful album that was Number One on my Top Faves list last year.
A last minute substitution of a young piano player Gerald Clayton in place of Robert Glasper may turn out to be one of the year's Discover Jazz highlights.
Jonathan Butler, Cheryl Willoughby and I will once again cover the 2010 Burlington Discover Jazz Festival here, please join in the conversation and keep the myriad voices & sights of Jazz going.
Happy Poetry & Jazz Month!
