This year's Burlington Discover Jazz Festival press conference: an occasion to bring out treasured Festival shirts and smiles.The line-up is out and Sonny Rollins, Jim Hall, et. al. stalk the land. The Festival is always a kick and this year covers the gamet from the Cuban-born master Arturo Sandoval, who was a founding member of IRAKIRE to Allen Toussaint, New Orleans piano master, composer, bandleader, vocalist and hitmaker with a heartbreakingly beautiful album that was Number One on my Top Faves list last year.
A last minute substitution of a young piano player Gerald Clayton in place of Robert Glasper may turn out to be one of the year's Discover Jazz highlights.
